More Details from Tanya:
Join us as we gather to process our stories together and create a collective wave of peace and empathy for each other. We will breathe. We will write. We will share with each other in a safe space.

What is Narrative Writing?

A spoken or written account of your story. Stories about you. We all have a story, and all our stories matter and are important. I am trusting you to hold my story and get to know me. We are forming a circle of trust and allowing another to be a witness bearer in our life. We will quiet ourselves to hear what stories our body hold that need to be released and to be able to be active listeners in the story of someone else.

Rules
1. We listen when the other person is speaking.
2. Unless the person sharing has the intention of expressing humor, we do not laugh at what is being shared.
3. A sacred silence is perfectly normal, allow that after a person shares, and out of that silence respond.
4. What responses should not sound like-you know that happened to me too? One time….; you know what I would have done if that was me?
5. Appropriate comments-I hear you; I see you; I understand; I am holding space for you; I loved how you described…the part when you said …caught my attention; beautiful description of…
6. Active listeners let people finish their sentences, we are ok with not having all the attention.
7. No judging others writing or yourself, and no comparing.
8. Your writing can come out in a poem, or it may even move away from the prompt, and that is okay because we are following the echoes of the inner voice that lie within.

All individuals from every stage of the writing life and any point of the faith/doubt/mystery spectrum are invited to join us for this online seminar. Spiritual Direction for Writers® has a reputation as a safe place for all to come as they are. Everyone who registers will receive more details and the Zoom link 24 hours before the session.

More about Tanya Davis
Tanya Davis became passionate about narrative writing while completing the Narrative Medicine Master’s Program at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Tanya Davis believes that our bodies are story collectors and are waiting for us to slow down and listen. Using literature, poetry, and other forms of art as prompts, we will breathe and write while releasing the stories our body holds.

If you believe in the power of story and want to explore your personal narratives in community, with others, Follow the Echoes of Your Inner Voice narrative workshops is the space to do it.

These narrative workshops:

*Are a meditative practice. When you want to slow down and listen to the stories your

body is holding.

*Are helpful if you have a fear of writing and want to explore the possibility in a non-judgmental space.

*Build confidence as you see the power of sharing your story with others.

*Build compassion and empathy as you become an active listener in the story of others.

We will write. We will listen. We will bear witness with one another in a sacred space.

Private sessions are also available. Please contact Tanya at TDavis@thewillgroup.com if you’d like to discuss private one-on-one options.
