Daily Nourishment for January 31: The Important and Unimportant Share Space

Daily Nourishment Read Time: 45 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 10-15 minutes

“The [kitchen junk] drawer is a subconscious storage unit; a holding port of the owner where the important and the unimportant share space, experience and storytelling.” - Peggy Robles-Alvarado

Pause.

Take six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale.

Prompt.

Read “In Leticia's Kitchen Drawer” by Peggy Robles-Alvarado

Then look at the photographs below by Elżbieta Jabłońska.

Practice.

Set a timer for 10 minutes and make a list of things that are in your kitchen junk drawer or a fictional character’s kitchen junk drawer.

Pick three items from the list and write true or fictional details and stories about each. Use a photograph above as inspiration, if you like.

In the coming hours and days, use your list and additional details to begin writing a new story, essay, poem, or letter to a friend.
