Daily Nourishment Read Time: 40 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 15 minutes
“You can honor the past without beingin bondage to it.” - Cole Arthur Riley
Pause.
Read (or reread) this Instagram post by Cole Arthur Riley. Make sure you read all of the slides!
Prompt.
Write down this quote by Zora Neale Hurston: “There are years that ask questions and years that answer.”
If you like, copy it a few times into your notebook or journal.
Set a timer for three minutes and sit with this sentence in silence.
Then take notes on 2025. Was it a year of questions or answers? Why? How?
Take more notes on Advent and Christmastide 2025. What do you want to remember? What do you want more of for the rest of Christmastide? What do you want less of?
Practice.
Use one of the breath prayers from the Instagram post. Do a few rounds of the breath prayer/breath meditation using words Cole Arthur Riley has provided for the inhale and exhale.
Then write your own breath prayer for a new year. What do you want to receive? What do you want to release?
Choose your words or phrases and do a few rounds of inhales and exhales.
Want More?
Do a slow reading of “i am running into a new year” by Lucille Clifton. Read it a few times and take notes on where you notice energy, images that come to mind, connections to your own story and experiences.
