Daily Nourishment for October 10, 2024: Music and Memory with Guidance from Mary McCampbell

Daily Nourishment Read Time: 40 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 15-20 minutes

Pause.

Sit silently for a few moments, letting your mind wander back to your childhood. Try to remember your first concert experience, your first favorite song, or the first love song that captured your teenage heart and imagination. If you can locate a song, quietly hum it, remembering how it used to make you feel.

Prompt.

Look on YouTube to find one of the songs that sprung into your mind and listen to it, letting it color your memories of a particular time and place. Take a few minutes to write down any details that you can remember about the younger self that loved this song: what you wore, what you smelled, who your friends were, what you loved to eat, who you had a crush on.

Practice.

Write one short paragraph of a scene of your younger self listening to and enjoying this music. SHOW how it was a part of the tapestry of your life. Then write a short paragraph describing the current version of you as you listen to the music.
