Daily Nourishment for April 25: We Rediscover Who We Are
Daily Nourishment Read Time: 30 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 15 minutes
“By asking what we value, we rediscover who we are. By examining the things we most value, we illuminate the human urge to preserve the past and speak to the future.” - Jonathan Fein
Pause.
Take six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale.
Prompt.
Set a timer for five minutes and respond to these questions:
What things in your home mean the most to you? How do ordinary objects define who you are and what you value? How do objects help you preserve the past and speak to the future?
Practice.
Set a timer for 10 minutes then write about two objects in your home, one on display and one hidden. You can take notes, journal, or start a new poem, story, essay, or letter to a friend.
*This writing exercise is inspired by a prompt in Craft in the Real World by Matthew Salesses.
