Daily Nourishment for April 10: A Vital Necessity
Daily Nourishment Read Time: 40 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 10-15 minutes
“For women, then, poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence.” - Audre Lorde
Pause.
Take six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale. Go outside and take six more deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale.
Practice.
Using the list poem above as a guide, create your own list poem that captures the essence of one day this past week.
Set a timer for 10 minutes then follow these steps if you need a bit more guidance:
Go through your calendar, to-do lists, text messages, emails, and social media posts for that day.
Brainstorm items that are connected to that day in any way. Meetings, feelings, emotions, current events/news, interactions with other people.
See if there are any obvious threads in your brainstorming notes. If so, try a list poem using those threads. If not, pick one item that seems interesting and go deeper. List even more details. Dig for more memories or connections.
