When you’re in a creative rut, put yourself in the way of awe.

Pause.

Look at this artwork, Starry Night June, for two minutes.

Prompt.

1. Read this flash CNF piece over at River Teeth’s Beautiful Things

2. Write about stars for five minutes. Write about what you know. Write about what you don’t know. Take notes with bullet point phrases or write real sentences. Journal or pray or begin a new essay or a story or a letter to a friend.

Practice.

Go outside and look at the sky tonight or one night soon. What can you see? What can’t you see? What do you want to see?
