Take six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale.

Prompt.

While listening to the poem, continue taking six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale.

Practice.

Set a timer for eight minutes and take notes on the poem and write your own affirmations using “Country of Water” and the questions below as a guide.

—What do you believe?
—What do you believe about yourself?
—What do you believe about your body and your skin?
—What do you believe about the air, water, fire?
—Who has prayed for you?
—Whose backbones have brought you forth?
