—This week’s Daily Nourishment Pauses, Prompts, and Practices are new contributions from Catherine Ricketts. (Thanks, Cat!) Cat is one of our SDW Fellows for 2024, so you’ll be seeing her words here often this year. She’s also one of our speakers for the 1/27/2024 Seminar for Moms Who Write. Please note all are welcome to register. There will be sessions for all caregivers and for people who have suffered lament and loss around motherhood and parenthood. Recordings will be available for everyone who registers. There are paid and free options. More details coming soon for my vision and hopes for this gathering.

—Our next SDW Co-Writing gathering is TODAY from 2-6 p.m. CT. Learn more and register here. Participants are welcome to come for one or more sessions which start at the top of each hour during the four-hour block.

—All of our Co-Writing Invocations and Blessings this month are from Black Liturgies by Cole Arthur Riley. This book comes out on January 15, and it is phenomenal. One way to pre-order is to sign up for the paid Thoughtful Readers Gathering with Cole Arthur Riley on January 21. There’s also a free option. Everyone is welcome to the Thoughtful Readers Gatherings, and a recording will be available for two weeks to all who register. Please let me know if you have any questions!

—Today’s One O’Clock Central entry will be my response to Cat’s Pause, Prompt, and Practice below. It will be live at 1 p.m. CT at oneoclockcentral.com.

—Thanks so much for subscribing to SDW Daily Nourishment.

“missing something that wasn’t even ever there” -- Catherine Repko

Pause.

Set a timer for two minutes and look the painting Spring’s Harvest by the London-based American artist Catherine Repko.

Prompt.

Next, look at Repko's painting Godhead. Then set a timer for five minutes and write on the following questions:

- What do these paintings make you feel?
- What do these paintings make you remember?
- What do these paintings make you long for?

Practice.

Catherine Repko’s body of work focuses on childhood memories with her three sisters. Much of her work channels feelings of nostalgia, which may at times be, as she puts it, “missing something that wasn’t even ever there.” Call to mind a sibling or childhood friend. This week, write that person a letter describing what you miss, whether it was there or it wasn’t.
